pre-wedding sakura photos in kyoto

G and G are from Hong Kong and had been to Japan and Kyoto a few times before but as they are getting married later on this year they decided to have their pre-wedding photos with the sakura in Kyoto. Hard to read the timing of when the Sakura will be in full bloom but April the 8th turned out to be a perfect day – sakura in full bloom, a beautiful sunny day and a fun couple.

We then moved to the Keage Incline (蹴上インクライン) for a few more pictures amongst the low hanging sakura. Even though it was a weekday there almost as many people as sakura blossoms so had to try a few tricky angles to get get just the blossoms and not the people.

After the Keage Incline we went to Gion (祇園) and back to the hotel to change before heading to the Kamo River (鴨川)
and then the Kyoto Botanical Gardens (京都植物園) for some night shots with the sakura – those pictures are next time.

    Great pictures! Loving them.

Can I check if you know if doing a wedding photoshoot wearing a wedding gown at Kyoto Botanical Gardens is allowed? Or only photoshoot in kimono is allowed there, no gown?

Thanks so much for your help

      Hi Michelle

Yes, doing a wedding photoshoot wearing a gown at the Kyoto Botanical gardens is fine. The last few pictures at this link where taken there

    Thank you for your reply.

I love your pictures on the other link as well, they look gorgeous!

Would you happen to know if Kyoto Botanical Gardens have any night-time autumn illumination during Nov-Dec? Or would the park be dark and not worth taking any pictures there at night during autumn?

    Thanks again!

Hi Michelle - I just checked but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any illumination in nov-dec. As there is no illumination the park closes at 5pm during that time. seems like daytime is the only option there.
